In search of a Simply Perfect Suit!

A suit brings presence and can create impact to any occasion. I wanted to buy one, which creates an Impact! he he. I had no idea what to look for in a suit. The Only thing that i looked for in a Suit is that it should look Good. Well, i had no special occasion in mind. Till now, since school to college, i didnt have any special reason to wear a suit. Now, that i have finished my under graduation and entering the Professional World i thought of Buying myself a Suit…

And so i went in search of that Simply Perfect Suit, My First Suit… with my Parents in Tow. They’re the ones who have to Buy me one right! ;)

First, we went to Rex Fashions in Velachery which is the nearest shop to our place. We then walked to the Suits section and checked out a few suits. And the Salesman asked me, “Marriage ka sir?!” :O Enna?!! Illa illa, chumma thaan…! Then i tried a few suits and found that the length of the sleeve is short for me, for my size. Being thin and tall and more importantly with long hands i find it difficult to search for formal shirts or suits. Either its large or the length of the sleeve is short for my hand. So, most of the times i stitch my Shirts. So, then we decided to go to Hi-Style Tailorz in Adyar to stitch one. But on the way, we found the Style One shop in Adyar and stopped by to look for a Suit…

The shop was huge and quite empty at that time and as soon as we entered the shop a few salesmen started surrounding me and offered one suit after the other to try out. I didnt like the Navy color. Grey was okay. And after a checking out a few i settled for a Steel Grey Suit with Stripes and three button Suit. It looked Good.  But it was too pricey at 8.5k INR. But here comes the Salesman into play and he starts saying everything positive about the suit. Also, the shop didnt have any suit less than 6.5k, or even if they had they didnt show. My Parents said its okay if you like it and so the suit was billed and the pant altered and handed over to us. I had planned a budget of around 5k and as always the final cost of expenditure overran my estimated budget. But, anyway i like the Suit and that is what matters. So, i came back home with My First Suit, the Special Suit in Hand!

Hi, its really nice to read all your experiences and think that…i can relate almost all of your experiences with mine… and think everyone who graduated and then planned for masters have gone through same phases of life….

After my undergrad, I hardly got time for my prep to come to US….. Had to buy suit for me too…. And had the same problem of sleeves.. none of the ready made suits had right length of sleeves… may be because of long hands :-)
Finally, went to Raymonds shop, and got a suit stitched for me…..
